Welcome to the Department of Business Administration & Commerce

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Business Administration & Commerce at Govt. Murray College Sialkot. Established in 2010, our department is the youngest among the fourteen departments offering BS programs at the college. Despite our relative youth, we have rapidly risen to prominence, distinguished by our popularity, excellence in value delivery, knowledge creation, and our significant contribution to fulfilling the needs of the local industry in Sialkot.
Our department also offers admissions into the Intermediate program I-COM, a two-year certification affiliated with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala. The increasing number of applicants each year has prompted us to expand our capacity. In Fall 2017, we introduced Evening Shift Classes for the Bachelor of Business Administration – BBA (Honors), effectively doubling our enrollment capacity. To date, we have enrolled 1,155 students into the undergraduate BS-BBA (Hons) program, affiliated with the University of Gujrat, and proudly seen 538 students graduate successfully.
Our alumni are making significant contributions to both the national and global economies, engaged in diverse fields such as financial institutions (especially the banking sector), the leather industry, sports and surgical goods, education, marketing services, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and successful startups.
Despite our achievements, we face a challenge in meeting the demand for a skilled workforce in Sialkot, an industrial city with over 15,000 registered businesses and an estimated 70,000 unregistered small businesses. Currently, we receive an average of 5,000 undergraduate admission applications annually, but can only accommodate 110 students. Many of the remaining applicants cannot afford the fees of private institutions, leading them to either abandon their education, travel to other cities for public colleges, or incur heavy financial burdens for their education.
Looking to the future, our long-term development program aims to address these challenges by 2030. We plan to establish 16 state-of-the-art air-conditioned classrooms equipped with multimedia facilities, audio systems, comfortable furnishings, and dedicated rostrums. Additionally, we will create two modern, high-tech labs for business and research students, accommodating up to 80 students, along with a smart room, and a Business Incubation Center (BIC). These facilities will support the introduction of new programs including BS-BBA (Accounting & Finance), BS-BCOM (Hons), MBA-1.5, and MBA-Executive.
The inclusion of these new programs will significantly enhance our capacity and contribution to the economic and social development of Pakistan. We are committed to providing an excellent education and fostering the growth of future business leaders.

Warm regards,

Prof. Hafiz Muhammad Raheel Arif
Head of the Department of Business Administration & Commerce
Govt. Murray Graduate College Sialkot.
